Full STEAM ahead: Welcome to Essex 2020, a year of science and creativity

Essex 2020 was launched on 20 January, kicking off a year-long celebration of science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM). The event brought together trail-blazing innovation and a rich cross-section of arts which together are driving Essex into the new decade and beyond.

“By experiencing our pioneering STEM industries and diversity of arts and culture first-hand, Essex 2020 will help residents of all ages feel proud of the county’s past achievements and believe in our exciting future,” says Gavin Jones, Essex County Council Chief Executive. “A new decade of opportunity has begun and Essex 2020 is our window to the world.”

Essex 2020 is a programme of more than 360 events designed to help everyone discover the magic of STEAM. Whether it’s going to an exhibition about our county’s pioneering past or joining a project that’s sure to stimulate your curiosity – there are plenty of ways to get involved.
